1984
The serology testing for Lyme became widely available in Connecticut.
1987
Lyme became a reportable disease. All physicians were required to report all cases.
1991
Federal funding for Lyme surveillance/education and research became available.
1994
The vaccine trials began, and the formula had the OspA protein base of the lyme spirochete.
1998
The first Lyme disease vaccine became available. To help determine vaccine efficacy, Lyme was made laboratory reportable.
2000
By July, 905 adverse events are reported. 66 of those were deemed life threatening/required hospitalization.
2001
the manufacturer withdrew the vaccine from the market. Some people questioned the potential of profit concerns being a factor.
2002
The vaccine efficacy study ended. Lyme is removed from lab reportable findings, remained a physician reportable disease.
